NCEA IN PHOTOGRAPHY

The reason for this blogpost is to show you how different photography lessons can be on the other side of the world. Magdalena participated in photography classes in Trident High School for one year and wants to share her experiences with you. NCEA is how students get photography grades in New Zealand. Students have to create a photography board which contains around 50 images about a certain topic they can choose. What Magdalena learned out of this, was a completely new way to look at photography. The aspect of a lot more creativity and to have the confidence to step out of the ordinary were important lessons as well. To give you an example, the photos you can see in this blogpost were part of Magdalena’s photography board. New Zealand's National Certificates of Educational Achievement (NCEA) are national qualifications for senior secondary school students. NCEA shows credits and grades for separate skills and knowledge. It enables students to gain credits from both traditional school curriculum areas and alternative programmes. NCEA and other national certificates are recognised by employers and used as the benchmark for selection by universities and polytechnics. NCEA is also recognized overseas.
